Learning Stations

This workshop will help teachers manage a multi-level classroom by implementing learning stations. By doing so teachers will be able to also implement the CCRS while differentiating instruction and making level gains. Learning stations allow teachers to provide whole group lessons before breaking them into smaller groups to promote peer learning as well as work with students one-on-one.

Creating 6 Step Lesson Plans

I’ve always said, “The more structured we are, the more flexible we can be.” This workshop walks participants through a 6-step lesson plan that allows teachers to provide structure in their adult education classroom while also incorporating active learning and individual instruction. Participants will leave this workshop with curriculum ideas and lesson plans ready to implement into any HSE/ABE classroom.

Active Learning in the Adult Education Classroom

Are your students tired of packets and handouts? Do you want to reach more of your students through group work but feel your hands are tied with different levels of learners? This interactive workshop is designed to give teachers the tools they need to create quick active learning lessons for the ABE or HSE classroom, and still meet the needs of the students. By using a combination of active learning tools, learning stations, and a structured format, participants will learn how to reach all of their students. Join us for a hands-on workshop that will provide creative lessons, ideas, and a system for working in an adult education multi-level, multi-subject classroom.

Teaching Evidence-Based Reading in the Adult Education Classroom

This workshop explores evidence-based strategies and resources to teach reading in the adult education, multi-level classroom for both ABE/HSE and ELL students. Specifically, we will explore teaching strategies that have been shown to be successful in improving reading achievement demonstrated through research-based practice for each component of the reading process:

  • Alphabetics
  • Word Recognition
  • Comprehension
  • Fluency
Contextualized instruction that is aligned to the CCR standards will also be addressed. These strategies and resources will help maximize learner engagement to increase the reading achievement of your students so they can succeed in the workplace and in their daily lives.
